We welcome all of you to Franciscan University for the 2012-2013 academic year. We wish you well in the academic, social, and spiritual endeavors you will pursue this coming year.
As president and vice president of Franciscan University Student Government, we appreciate having this outstanding opportunity to serve the all the students, clubs, and organizations on campus. We will work hard this year to make sure that Student Government truly represents the interests and needs of the student body and their many associations.
As fellow students, we hope you enjoy learning from this tremendous perspective of faith and reason here. There are many clubs and organizations on campus that help to foster this standard as well as other interests such as recreational activities. Student Government allocates funding each semester toward these various interests and any other germane concerns of the student body. Just as our positions were dependent on your support, we will now work to support your input within our proceedings this year.
Student Government functions in a similar manner to that of other governmental institutions. Each class is represented by three senators, whom they elect. These students legislate bills on behalf of their constituency. The organization also works to represent the student body to the University’s administration, and we will work to increase our direct contact with them.
Feel free to take advantage of all the opportunities before you at the University. Whether you are drawing closer to Christ, participating in extracurricular intellectual development, or representing your fellow students, we encourage you to make the most of your time here. We look forward to hearing from you this year. God bless you in all you do.
